If you were on the internet in 2022, you probably remember the surprise hit film M3GAN, the TikTok sensation that scared the living daylights out of us while keeping time to perfect choreography.
Fans will be glad to hear that a sequel, M3GAN 2.0, in on the way… but there has been a slight delay.
Unfortunately, Universal Studios has announced that the release date of M3GAN 2.0 has been pushed back from a 17 January 2025 release date to 16 May 2025.

The movie, directed by Gerard Johnstone and produced by James Wan, followed a young woman named Cady (Violet McGraw) who received a lifelike AI-powered doll named M3GAN from her Aunt Gemma (Allison Williams), a robotics engineer.
Unsurprisingly, the robotic doll turned out to be deadly. With a mind of its own, M3GAN wasn’t going to let anybody come between her and Cady, even if it meant killing them.
The movie was a huge success, grossing over $200 million worldwide on a $15 million budget, and received highly positive reviews. It was praised for its originality, suspense, and clever use of technology and artificial intelligence as inspiration for the terrifying horror tale.
The movie also left us with a cliffhanger, as we received a hint that M3GAN may have transferred her AI to another smart device before her doll form was destroyed.

With an official 17 January 2025 release date locked in, it felt like we had permission to start getting excited.

Due to this, it seems like M3GAN 2.0 is expected to be a big hit, which is no surprise given the viral TikTok popularity of the first movie. The studio is smart to move the release to the summer blockbuster season, when more people are willing and eager to go out and watch movies.
This change tells us that the studio is confident in the quality and appeal of M3GAN 2.0, and that they want to give it the best chance to succeed and reach the widest audience possible.

The Impact Of The Delay
The delay of M3GAN 2.0 may have some positive and negative impacts on the movie and the fans.

What To Expect From M3GAN 2.0
Despite the delay, we are still very excited to see M3GAN 2.0, and we have high expectations for the sequel.
Based on the ending of the first movie and the information that has been revealed by the filmmakers, we can expect M3GAN 2.0 to be another terrifying, bloody ride that will keep us on the edge of our seats.
We are hoping that M3GAN 2.0 explores more of the themes raised in the first movie, such as the ethics of artificial intelligence and the dangers of rapidly advancing technology.
We are also curious to see how M3GAN’s relationship with the main characters will evolve, and how they will cope with the new threats and challenges that M3GAN subjects them to.

- Will Cady be able to stop M3GAN or will she become corrupted by her?
